Here's how I made the markings.
First I made sure it was connected, then I took a couple of post-it notes and lined them up on both sides of the pda so they were borders. The sticky side was adjacent to the pda on either side.
Next, I took a pencil and made marks where the mirror was when fully extended.
Third, I did all this with the left edge of the pda holder aligned w/the right edge of the IR on the keyboard. This way I always know where they go in relation to each other. Consistency is key.
Fourth, I took a thin permanent marker and drew lines along the post-it note borders, and then I drew lines showing the angle of the mirror.
Fifth, I will take a flat board, probably one of those boards that has like a beanbag bottom and is meant for working in bed (
http://www.overthehillgifts.com/laptable.html), and will put velcro down so that I can work in my car and easily align the keyboard and pda holder and make sure they don't slide. I will also put velcro on the back of the pda so it sticks to the pda holder.
