Dell Foldable Plug-In Keyboard...
I'm looking at buying one of these in the next few days. I have a few questions. #1: Is there a way to keep the X30 charging while plugged to the keyboard? (I use Wifi a lot for internet and would like to keep it charging while I'm typing on IM and e-mail) #2: You can still use the wireless, right? (I saw a rumor that with the foldable, you couldn't use wireless, although I don't see why not) and #3: What are your experiences with the foldable? I'm not asking for advice on what to go for. I made up my mind. No advertising any other keyboard. Just experiences with this foldable one, please...

Thanks in Advance!

1.) Yes, you can charge and use the keyboard at the same time. There is a little AC adapter port on one of the sides of the keyboard, that enables you to use the keyboard/charge the pda at once.
2.) Yes, you can still use the WIFI.
3.) I had a great experience with that keyboard when I still had my x3i. It is very durable and works flawlessly. Remember, the driver has to be installed on Main Memory.

I like mine. I did not know about the power cord plug in that is good information. Look on ebay if you are going to get one. I got mine there for like $10. You can download the driver from the dell webpage. Mine is the part #D2704, model #G7L1-001. That is not the one dell is currently selling but mine works.

Yeah, I saw on EBay one for the X3, which is for $30. This would definitly help me as I'm on a budget. Any reason why this wouldn't be as good as the one Dell is currently selling, or is it alright to go ahead and get this one?

I would think they may have made some improvements since they changed the model number but it is hard to be sure. I didnt have any trouble with mine though. My space bar is a little hard to press. I have heard others complain of this. It may be that way one the newer ones too. I have the Dell brand though. They sell some on ebay (other brands) that fold in 1/2. I cannot comment on those but be sure to notice the difference.

Good luck finding a good deal.

I went ahead and ordered the Dell Foldable keyboard. Now, does anyone know where I can get a good case? I want to hold my keyboard and my Axim (The Axim with the BullGuard Cover on for extra screen protection). That is the minimum. If I can have more space, I'd like to carry my spare battery, and if I get more, them, and then the power cord. But just the Axim and Keyboard are truly needed in the case. Any ideas for a big holding case?

X30 Keyboard options?
Just wondered which keyboard you're considering for your X30. I bought a keyboard on EBAY but some of the keys didn't work so I returned it. I don't want a thumb board and no one seems to know if Belkin makes a folding keyboard that's compatible. Are there options out there other than the Dell?

dell foldable keyboard source
Re. your comment below: did you buy it from Dell or off eBay? Hard to pay full price when you can get it $30 less ... but i'm assuming the $30 operates as "insurance" if it doesn't work.

Does the BT keyboard have keys large enough to type with your shoulders?

Yeah, the Dell KB is a bit small, but how much are you going to be typing? It's probably best used to knock out quick drafts that you can edit and expand later on a desk/laptop.

Axim x30 Keyboard--More questions??
1--Does anyone know the differences between the older keyboard (D2704 vs. the current one Dell is selling (OF2037). On ebay the older version is available for very little, but if there are any significant improvements, I'd prefer to spend a few bucks extra for the current model.
2--also, since it's a plug in type as opposed to infrared, can it be used with the pocket pc in a landscape mode?
3--I bought a generic, infrared model on ebay and am not happy with the keyboard design, or the fact that the pocket pc is just propped up on the keyboard with nothing holding it in place. Does anyone know if there is a 'better' wireless version in which the keyboard does not have a gap in the middle where the hinge joins the two halves of the keyboard and where the device is held in place some way?

thanks
Gerry

I've had the Dell Foldable Keyboard for about two years now, and I really liked it at first. Until just recently, about a month ago, it's stopped charging the Axim through it. Cord charges just fine when plugged into the device, but not through the keyboard anymore.
