very slow browser problem.
Hi Folks, This is my first day on the forum. I have purchased an axim x30 and everything is working great except when I connect to the net it takes ages for the pages to load, often up to 2 minutes, although it gets there eventually. I have tested it with 3 different access point systems and the same thing. I have also tested my laptop on the same access points and the browsing is fast and seamless. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers from tassie. jonathon.

Welcome to the site!

The connection of the Axim will seem slower then a laptop with wifi.

Something to try is disabling your power save mode.

Thanks for the welcome MrKlaatu and thanks for the reply jpmarth
I tried adjusting the power settings to full and i think it made a slight difference. but I am surprised at the speed. If I download a file it comes in at the speed of our network (we have 1.5 mbit) from a good download source, but just general web browsing, i am waiting a minute or so for a page to load and that doesn't seem right. So I am wondering if it is some setting I have missed. I trialled a toshiba E740 of a friends before buying the axim and had pretty quick access to web pages, in fact pretty much like the notebook. The search continues.

How fast it is when you navigate to www.aximsite.com? If it is slower than a couple of seconds per pageload, then there is something wrong. What do you have installed so far? Have you cleared out temp files? Are you by any chance using MemMaid and saving your PIE cache in Buily-in-Storage? Is performance otherwise ok? Let us know a bit more about how you have set up your device.

BTW, welcome to Aximsite!

Thanks for your post gigi. My setup is fresh, ie: nothing additional installed. I am a little hampered at the moment by the fact that the guy i bought it off omitted to include the power cable for the cradle so I am not setup for hotsynch or installing new programs. I have a feeling that this post http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=90791 relating to the device constantly scanning may be worth a try. but i need to install a reg editor first which I will do as soon as I get a synch cable. I have tried full power etc. I will let the forum know how it goes. cheers, jonathon.

Try going to Settings->Connections->Dell WLAN Utility->Tools->Power Management and turn it off. Try that and see if the speed gets any better.

all ok now, yay...!!!
Hi again, sorry about the long delay between posts.
I finally got the problem sorted out. In that i can now surf effectively and quickly. It turned out that I was able to access other networks but not my own with IE. I attribute this to perhaps some sort of javascript issue with ie and the authentication controller software. However i installed the netfront browser and was able to use this to surf with lightning speed on my own and other networks. So now i'm totally chuffed again with my dell axim x30. cheers and thank you all very much for your help and imput folks, jonathon.
