WLAN program disappears!

Dear forum users,

I have a dell axim x30 mid. It has wifi and was working fine until yesterday. I installed movian vpn client. I noticed the wlan utility disappeared from the bottom right hand corner of the screen (the wlan utility looks like a staircase with 5-6 stairs, and the more stairs that are lit green, the less noise you have in the wifi). Well the movian vpn wasn't what I needed, so I uninstalled it. Now the wlan utility is still missing. I went through settings and wlan utility. For some reason the radio was disabled, so i tapped enable - nothing still happens (all this time the green wifi led is blinking). I went to odyssey client and it can no longer receive keys to authenticate with my wifi network. Worse, when I go into the wlan utility, and try to change options, the program just disappears out of the blue. I really don't want to do a hard reset.... Is there any way I can fix this problem?

Thanks.

This usually happens when the WLAN is disabled using the hardware button on the side of the axim, this causes the program to open then suddenly close. Try pressing that to disable/enable it then press it again until you have it enabled. THen open the wlan utility, if this doesnt work try disableing ur WLAN using the hardware button and performing a soft-rest

I tried doing all that. I called Dell too and they had no idea what to do. I eventually did a hard reset. Now it'll take a few days to reinstall all my programs. :rolling:

Thanks for your help.

I've had that happened to me too. Well I'd still be connected just the bars (today screen bottom right) would disappear!

Yeah, I was able to get onto my neighbor's unencrypted network, but for my own, it was locating keys but never making the connection. IT couldn't detect the WiFi card for some reason.

Best advice I can tell you is always perform a backup before installing new apps.

Sorry to hear you had to hard-reset, the wireless can be abit shakey at some times, again the best advice is to always backup before installing so you can roll-back if necessary
