funk Odessy Rocks... but... X3i

So here goes...
Until now I was using the Dell WLan utility for the last 1+ yrs. I've had a Axim 3Xi for a while now and its great, even upgraded to the A02 rom code.

At work we have Cisco routers with Leap / Peap enabled. At home I have a simple Linksys with WEP.

At home the Axim connects flawlessly, at work... maybe every 50th try I made it would connect.

Then yesterday I downloaded and tried the Odessey client with Peap. Dang !... Amazing... every single time... it connects to Leap superfast.

So here's my catch... Why didn't they bundle the client with the X3i ? Is it on the original CD that came with the device ? How can I get a permanent version from Dell perhaps ?

If anyone else has used a better client other than the Dell WLan.. please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Odessy Client

Here's the link that I downloaded the client for PPC 2003:

http://www.funk.com/download.asp?acg=6

Once you've installed it, you can just go through the setup process (should be fairly intuitive) if you have some basic configuration information such as the SSID of your network and your username / password. If you need more help send me a PM.

Could one of you guys using Odyssy on an X3i answer a simple question please:

Does the Odyssy client add WPA-PSK encryption to the Dell Axim X3i running Windows Mobile 2003?

As standard its WEP only and I am keen to find something that will provide WPA-PSK which is not supported within Windows Mobile 2003. I have seen lots of maybe this or maybe that but not one single answer confirming "Yes is does, yes I have it on an X3i WM2003 machine (NOT 2003SE) and yes it works!"

Thanks in advance.

You do realize that the download is a demo right?

Housemaster, I'm about 95% sure that WPA will not work with WM03, even with a program like Odyssey (in fact, I'm pretty sure I read it on Funk's website that it will not).

vkeswani, the Odyssey client was embedded in the ROMs on the X30, X50 and X51. It is not on the CD. My guess is that the Funk/Dell agreement to include it on Axims didn't happen until the X30 was released so I think the only way to use permanently on your X3 is to buy it.

ikehiker you are correct about WPA not working on x3. Hardware does not support it.
