Sorry if this is repetitive, but there used to be a procedure somewhere on the site for connecting the Axim to a bluetooth phone and using it as a dial-up modem to the Internet and now I'm unable to find it.
So when I first got my Motorola e815 (with Verizon service) I was able to successfully turn on DUN, pair the phone with my x30, and successfully connect to and browse the Internet. I hadn't used it for awhile and when I tried to dial-up to Verizon this week it wouldn't work. I've now deleted the Bluetooth pairing and have tried re-adding it, but with no success.
In Bluetooth Manager I select Connect to Internet Via Phone. The x30 sees my phone and I enter the passkey on both devices. I then get an error saying that the Service discovery was unsuccessful.
In the Details window it shows Authentication Successful, and then it says "Discovering device 'eb815'", then "Waiting for Device". Finally it says "The requested service is not running on this device. Please make sure the service is enabled on the device or select another one to continue."
I've tried this with DUN enabled (##342587) as well as disabled and both have failed. Has my phone bit the dust or am I missing something? This seemed so easy when I first tried it so I'm extremely frustrated now that it won't work.
I'm also confused about using EVDO vis 1x. I read somewhere that EVDO worked "out of the box" (whatever that means), while 1x requires that you type in the ##342587. Does that mean that NOT enabling DUN allows me to connect via EVDO (provided that I have an EVDO signal) at higher speeds, while the ##342587 locks me into the slower speeds? Any clarification would be appreciated.
Thanks.
