Upgrading X30?

Is it possible to upgrade the X30 in anykind of way meaning proccessor speed or anything like that. Going from 312mhz to 624mhz or any other things i can do to my x30 to make it that much better without buying a new one. Thankyou

Welcome to AximSite!

As to your question: I'm afraid not. Other than ROM upgrades, there no internal upgrades available for the X30 series. The only mod available at this time is replacement of the external connector with a new version that is more robust than the original.

only thing you can do is to overclock the processor for faster performance by using something like XCPUScalar.

I overclock mine to 520 on a Axim X30 mid 312 with XCPUScalar. I use Auto Scale set at 208 at 0-10%, 312 at 11-30% 416 at 31-55% and 512 at 56-100%. I have very few freezes with this and good performance and battery use.

Mods I want to add: a jack for charging only. Now that may not be such a big deal if I get the new sync connector. The updated sync connector seems like an ideal upgrade.

The other mod I would like would be a little toggle that will shut off the PDA when I close the door on my aluminum case. I think it would be easy to add.

There are lots of little software mods that are very useful like adding BtnPlus which is free and adds three applications to each hardware button. It takes a little experimenting but I was able to get all six of my buttons working with three options with this little thing (written in Japanese you can find tutorials on how to get it running in English. Some say that it will only work with some buttons but it will work will all).

Also Macro programs like MorRunner (free) and PenCommander (comes with Calligrapher) expand the functionality of the device considerably.

Then there are programs to change the display resolution like DotPocket (my preference) and NyDitot.

And programs that add a common clipboard with your PC like DotPocket (my preference) and Commander (something like that). OpClip is a free option but it is not as reliable and easy as DotPocket.

Then there are the registry tweaks that are helpful. Do a search for these. My favorites are ones that have expanded the functionality of my external keyboard.

Thank you so much cravaus, those are great tips for me. Anyone else got any others. I know there might possibly be more.
