I have a problem that has become very annoying.
I have an X30 640MHz 64M/64M that I have had for 18 months. I am running ROM A06 installed about 6 months ago.
At home I currently connect wirelessly via the ODYSSEY client to a NETGEAR router with no problems. I also use ActiveSync 3.7 to sync my calendar/contacts/files/favourites.
At work I do not have wireless connectivity. I use ActiveSync 3.7 to sync my calendar/contacts/tasks/inbox/files/favourites. On some occasions I will connect to the internet via my AXIM through ActiveSync.
The problem seems to be that when I connect to the internet wirelessly, my PIE cache Temporary Internet Files.... is in a directory My Device/Windows/Profiles/guest/ my Cookies and History also. This is where I expect to see them for WM2003SE.
However after I connect to the internet via ActiveSync 3.7 (via a USB connection) PIE creates my cache (Temporary Internet Files...), Cookies and History directories directly in the My Device/Windows folder. This would not be a problem normally but the size of the cache seems to be very small. Once this folder has been created it is very difficult to delete as a message that the index.dat file is in use is displayed. I usually need to disable ODYSSEY and the LAN card and soft reset several times to remove the index.dat contention and allow the folder to be deleted. I have tried the DELL WLAN utility and get the same problem.
Does anyone know if this is a flaw in ActiveSync or some obscure setting I am overlooking?
