Problems synchronizing with new computer

Please help......My Axim X30 worked fine with my old laptop, but when I got a new one and installed ActiveSync 3.7.1, I can't synchronize my Axim to the computer. It attempts to synchronize, then leaves all the items unresolved and gives me the message "cannot be written to Microsoft Outlook due to error 80070057".

I have chosen the option that the handheld overrides the computer if there is a conflict.

It may be due to firewall settings on the new laptop: you'll find postings on this in Active Sync forum. Also, you might consider using a newer version of Active Sync, maybe 3.8.

Thanks for the input. I tried it with both my Internet Security Firewall and my Windows Firewall disabled and it still wouldn't synchronize. I then uninstalled the current version of ActiveSync and installed v. 3.8, but then I couldn't even get the ActiveSync window to open and the icon didn't show on my taskbar. I went back to my old laptop and was able to synchronize, so I know the problem isn't with the docking cradle or my Axim. I'm not sure where to go next. Any ideas?
