got a used x30: full erase?

i bought an x30 off a fellow on ebay. is there a way to do a full erase/reinstall or at least set everything back to factory default?

it's a 320mhz, wifi, bt model

i have a cd that is wm2003se with outlook 2002 and activesync 3.7.1

should i use this cd or are there newer drivers? anyway to upgrade outlook to the newest version? what about activesync?

so i guess there's no actual OS cd? odd. though that certainly is common for dell :(

To get it back to factory default, do a hard reset, which involves holding down the power button and doing a soft reset (push stylus tip into reset hole at back) at the same time. You do not need an OS CD since the OS is part of the ROM and not user-modifiable unless you do a ROM update. As for software updates, download ActiveSync 3.8 from Microsoft (free). You are on your own for Outlook but 2002 should be fine. :)

The best available in both of those is 4G with up to 133x (20M/s) read speeds. That is overkill for most people so I suggest looking on places like buy.com, mwave.com, pricewatch.com, ebay for what you need.

It should be able to handle up 2 terrabytes like any other fat32 device. But yeah pretty much any card available will work with it.

It might not be the absolute best card you can buy but it is the best I've seen. Then again I don't pay too much attention to anything over 1G cuz I don't have the money to afford even that. ;)

When I got my Axim, it was also a used unit. I did the hard reset and it cleared the main memory. The built-in storage, however, was not erased. I had to go in and manually delete the stuff contained there. Should it have been erased when I did the hard reset?

Nope. Your built in storage is not erased in a hard reset. In fact, built in storage is a fantastic place to put your back up files because it is always available and not deleted in a hard reset.

BTW, if you ever sell a PDA of your own, you may want to make sure to delete the built in storage. I couldn't imaging giving acomplete stranger all the information that is currently in my BIS.

Opps we had the same ifo Tige_Splash

No hard reset does not effect built in storage, but you could have manually deleted the stuff in built in storage before you hard reset.
