Aximsitex3icon ADHOC problems with sharing....

Okay, I feel like an absolute moron... I have checked out what I can find on the forums and I also have read Ikehikers guide... my problem with that is that it only shows setup for win98 and winxp...I am running win200nt... I cant get the shared folder to show up on my axim... Can someone please walk me through this?? Also, is there some way I can set it so that I can see my shared folder as my D: drive? I have an axim x30 high and an IBM thinkpad.

Any help would be awesome!!
Thanks in advance!

I don't know what program you are using to look for your network shares. You have nothing in your MyPDA.
I had problems keeping internet sharing with my AdHoc (whenever the Axim lost contact, power-downs included, I had to unshare internet, then reshare and recheck a bunch of boxes). Finally, I broke down and got a WiFi router. It works like a charm, and has a much greater range!

Also, have a little patience! 20 minutes for a bump is really a short time. You will still be new when the 5 o'clockers get back from their evening commute, but you won't show up in the Unanswered Threads search.

okay, thanks for the reply.. First off, I was told that when a file is shared, it would appear in my file explorer..is that wrong? Also, your right about the 20 minute thing.. haha... I guess I was really anxious and didnt keep track of how little time had passed... I do have a wifi router, I am not trying to do internet sharing. What I want to do is share files through my wifi card on my laptop. Is that even possible? I am using a 2wire card in my laptop.

No it will not just show up in File Explorer. You need to open //COMPUTERNAME/folder. If you share a file it will show up in your shared files folder. If you share a folder it will show up as the name you give it when you set up sharing for that folder. If that doesn't work, I suggest trying Resco Explorer just to make sure that the computer (and shared files/folders) are being seen in the first place.

AD-HOC connections on PDA's simply do not work, you need to byu a router. I have tried for many months to use ad-hoc and every 5 minutes the link will disconnect and not re-establish, I have to turn off wifi, disable wifi on the computer as well, then turn it all back on to reconnect just for another 5minutes. I have tried every adhoc configuration on the computer and nothing woks properly,

Hi, I have axim x30m, windows xp with netgear wg311v2 802.11g network card in the computer.

I have the computer connected to cable internet.

The pda will work fine, but it will keep dropping the connection, and sometimes not even connect, eg it will connect and I look at network display and no data is reciving from the computer but is sending and vise versa.

Anyhelp would be excellent. I have read all the posts in regards to adhoc and none can help me with my problem.

I am so upset by this, I spent $39 on the network card and had to wait in line to buy it for 1 hour, I get home and tried for days to get it to work. I cried that I wasted my money and all my time and had nothing to show for it so I decided to give up and I personally believe that adhoc connections do not work. If you can get it to work for me I would be very happy.

First things first... I guarantee that your ad hoc will be working full throttle probably with in a week. What are you using to search for the connection? Just the regular WLAN from dell? Also, did you set up a network with your laptop and specify adhoc? These are basic I know, but start from there. Also, I admit I am not all that great with xp. Another person you should contact is ikehiker. He is a great guy and will help you unlike any other!! Feel free to message me anytime!! We'll get this working though!

In all the network settings I have set "jeff" as ssid, also set network to adhoc etc etc. Everything I have tried does not work.

Yes I think wlan searches for the the connection, also on my desktop computer I have set everything correctly.

make sure that it is specifically broadcasting b ( or broadcasting both simultaneously, just as long as it is broadcasting at least b), that is what the axim uses.. also, check the settings...you dont want any "super" settings or anything... all basic settings, nothing special..
