vpn guru plz help!!!

im trying to connect to work with vpn. so on my axim x30 mid...i go into start>settings>connections>advance>select network. then create new vpn network under the heading "programs that automatically connect to private network should connect using:" so i create new vpn setting under that with all the correct information such as username, password, and domain name and it is pptp.

right now under my connections setting on my axim x30, it is using "MY work network" programs that automatically connect to internent and programs that automatically connect to vpn."

so i create a new network under the setting for vpn. now my question it said ""programs that automatically connect to private network should connect using:" my question is i use terminal service. on my home computer...once i establish vpn connection, i use REMOTE DESKTOP to connect to my work computer. on my axim....it is the terminal service. SO MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I MAKE MY AXIM TERMINAL SERVICE A "program that automatically connect to private network...'?

and im i doing it right...when i want to connect to vpn on my axim...i would go into start>settings>connections>advance>select network...then hit the drop down on the "...private networ..." to "My VPN" (the one i just created) and it would connecto...how do i tell if it is connected?

On Select Networks page --- make sure programs that connect to the internet are set to "My ISP" and programs that connect to work are set to "My Work Network". Then setup your VPN Connection.

Now go back to the connections page ... there is a button for exceptions.

Click that. In the box ... add the subnet for your work servers. For example --

Under add new URL for one of mine I have 10.0.1.*/* --- I use it for Terminal Services like you do and this works fine. You could probably specify the port instead of the last star, but I didn't bother.

I imagine you could do something like server.company.com/3389 ... but I haven't tried that and it would require that you have a DNS server that recognizes the servernames. Sitting on my couch at home I didn't have access to a company DNS server & I was too lazy to figure out how to setup an LMHosts file on my Axim so doing it by subnet was the easiest way.

Now - Launch terminal services ... connect to 10.0.1.1 (example) and it should launch the VPN connection automagically ... you'll know when you're connected because the connections pop-up will pop-up :approve:

if i choose "isp" i won't be able to surf the web. it either ask a proxy surfer which i don't have or a phone number to dial.

i got mine working earlier today. switched it to ISP in work settings. if itsjust an access point/cable router, that should be sufficient enough to get around in using isp, provided that you can conect without a VPN. then again at work, i'm not sure what you're doiing, so...:-P
