Hmm X30 Wireless detects wireless when it wants!

Hey all, for awhile now my X30's wireless was working fine. It could detect my uncle's wireless network easily. Even through solid concrete walls in this apartment complex! Anyway, now my wireless has been going on and off. It used to be that when it didn't detect the wireless network anymore, I could give it a hard reset and it would detect it. Now it won't! I'm pretty sure my router is both b/g compatible. However, I do realize that the "b" signal range could be turned off but... honestly, have you ever seen a wireless router that will let you turn off b or g? (well, at least I haven't).
But here's the REAL thing that gets me. Maybe it can't detect my unc's wireless but it can detect OTHER 802.11b wireless networks, but of course most of the time it can't connect to them. It can detect but it can't connect. Anyone got any ideas? Do you think the wireless is damaged?

The problem with wifi on x30 is old news pal.

I hav a x30 high, and it used to have problems with wifi also. I upgraded the firmware to A06 and most of the problems seem to have disappeared... well most of the time anyway. I believe older firmwares especially below A05 have serious problems with wifi. so make sure you have A06. Dell also removed that battery limit crap for wifi... (you know when your battery meter hits 25% you can no longer enable wifi... thats gone for A06)

another tip for. sometimes the Axim DOES detect your network. but for some odd reason it won't choose to connect to it. So what you do is you tap on the wifi bars and that brings you into the Dell WLAN utility.

tap on "Edit wireless profile". You will get a list of detected networks. if you see your network is listed but it says "available" instead of "Connected". tap and hold, then tap on "Connect". then hopefully your axim will know to connect, and remember to do so next time.

Yes.. most routers do have options like turn on "b and g", "b only" and "g only". Just check if both are turned on.

True story.

If you are not sure. I suggest you hard reset your router. usually hold the reset button for like 10 sec will do.

Actually the problems started happening AFTER I installed A06. No problems with A05 :approve: and when I said my Axim couldn't connect, I meant just that. I would go to the WLAN utility and try to manually connect but for some reason it would look like it's connecting but won't be actually connected.

Never upgrade if you're not having problems. Upgrading seems to cause more problems than it fixes... I'm still running A04 with no problems.
