Text files, opening docs from MS Word

Hi all,

I've got a basic text file I'd like to open on my X30, but can't seem to. When I try just selecting it - it says "there is no application associated with xxx.txt. Run the application first, then open this file from within the application". So I figure fine - let me try MS Word or IE perhaps. However I can't find any way in Windows Mobile applications (MS Word, IE, etc.) to open files. There's no menu option I see. The only way that I can find to open files is to select it, and of course I'm back where I started from.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have an x51v so I'm not sure it this applies....but I'll try anyways. When I open Word Mobile a New Document automatically appears. Then when I close the New Document it takes me to a File Explorer within Word. From there I can find all .doc and .txt files in memory.
I hope this is of some help....I'm not sure.

Kind of - actually that helps, as long as the file is on the embedded flash. Word doesn't seem to find the SD flash though.

However I've since found that the files actually had an additional extension that I didn't know about - e.g. "filename.txt.t". I only found this out by transferring the files to my PC. Stupid WinMobile, from what I can tell, didn't allow me to see the true file extension. Even if I select "rename", it still doesn't show the file extension, so I have no option to change the extension to ".txt". I hate Windows. Maybe there's a way to do it, haven't figured it out yet. If the option exists, it's not intuitive or easy to file I know how in Win XP etc., but WinMobile doesn't have the same method of setting options.

In the meantime, I can now open files with a ".t" extension in Word, but *only* if the file is in the embedded flash. It won't work still on the SD flash. One would think that Word would be agnostic as to the location of the file, but apparently not. Did I mention I hate Windows?
