My Axim died recently....I have a few pocket excel files (.pxl) on my SD card that are pretty important (and unfortunately therefore password protected) that I would love to be able to convert (or just view) on my desktop.....I can't sync, so conversion using activesync is out.......what are my options? At the very least I would want at least to view the info so I could recreate the excel files...
Slavik, what I see as the simplist solution is to purchase a card reader (about $10USD) to read the card. Otherwise locate someone (I actually took mine to BestBuy once and emailed it to myself - the sales people were very understanding). If you have Excell on anoterh PC you can read and alter the data after reading/downloading the files.
I don't have problems copying to the computer (i do have a card reader)....but the main thing is how to open these files. The MS Excel doesn't open the .pxl files.
....or did I missunderstood you, if so could you please clarify what you meant?
Thankfully I found back ups at work of the two files that were the most important (at least the ones that would've required the most work to replicate) at work, they are about a month old, but in a few hours were restored to current state.....I did back ups on my axim fairly often, but I never thought the PDA could just break ( i was always extremely carefull with it).....Well that would be a lesson for the future to have back ups that could be opened by other systems.....
Thank you very much for the offer CodeBubba, very kind of you! I'll take you up on it :). E-mail sent....
Thanks again CodeBubba, all of the files are opening fine!
:approve:
....and just for the benefit for those who have the similar problem to mine (or no benefit :) ) SpreadCE is no help with password protected pocket excels files neither.......:(
now the hard part, have to find a replacement for my recently deceased Axim.....i might go with the PDA phone this time....although Sprint's selection isn't greatest
The 6700 by Audiovox/UTStarcom is really cool. Bigger than the Axim, but I think it's worth it. Heck, if you're not eligible for an upgrade rebate, look on Ebay. There are tons of them for Sprint.
