Question Guru advice - need software advice, please.

i have recently wiped my x30mid clean after 2 years of use (not by choice) and would like to purchase/ install new software.

its been a long time since researching and i would like some more informed suggestions for whats good out there now. i really need to avoid redundancy and keep the memory as free as possible to avoid sluggishness.

Main Use:
- primarily appointments, contacts, tasks, notes, (not email) need to be displayed neatly on today screen and easily editable.

- also like to view media as easily as possible(images, animations, movie files etc.)

- i use wireless internet often

- very dependant upon syncing to ms outlook.

other uses:
- would like to utilize bluetooth with potential new bluetooth phone (looking at verizon v6700 or trio 700w) to access internet from x30 using the verizons phone data package
- some mp3 usage using sd card.

***********************
since 2004, i was running:

resco explorer, resco picture viewer
pocket breeze, pocket informant, pocket plus

*********************************
decisions:

1. having trouble deciding if i still need pocket breeze, pocket informant, pocket plus or just 1 or 2 of them.

2. pocket informant OR contact breeze?

3. better options out there than resco explorer, resco picture viewer?

4. would like backup utility and memory utility (memmaid?)

5. also not sure which programs can be installed on sd card, bis or main

6. any "small" but good programs to play mp3's.

7. do all of these apps run well on windows mobile 2003 or have they become bloated for mobile v5?

*********************************

thanks in advance. you people are always very helpful and i value and appreciate your advice.

bob

Pocket Informant's da bomb

- better options out there than resco explorer, resco picture viewer?
GSFinder - small and free
XnView Pocket - again small and free

- would like backup utility and memory utility (memmaid?)
Backup - Sprite Backup
Memory Utility - MemMaid is still very good

- any "small" but good programs to play mp3's.
I like PocketMusic and GSPlayer

See my pda. I prefer PI, GS player for mp3s, and Tcpmp for movies. I keep a folder on my desktop computer with copies of my exe's just in case my pda goes thru an accidental hard reset.

I also keep copies of the serial numbers. This way I have the correct programs and can quickly get up and running. Sometimes it's hard to find the right version of the program you use, that's why I keep a copy.

I also backup w/sprite daily.

Almost everything can be loaded onto your flash memory. The only program I put into main memory was PI. Everything else went onto my sd card. I put all my movies and gps maps on my cf card. Check out Stoneraven's Memory Tutorial for more info.

If you want your calendar and contacts displayed on the today screen as stated, Pocket Breeze and Pocket Contacts are the way to go.

I run both of these AND Pocket Informant.

thanks stevenator65.
i am looking over your pda setup...great ideas.

thanks RobMan.

i got it now. i was a bit confused about contact breeze and pocket informant functions.

i think to save space, i can probably live with just using pocket informant as i did previously.
