Hard resets.....what to expect?

Can someone tell me what to expect after I do a hard reset (I'm dreading this)? My X30 has been acting up and after many soft resets, it doesn't seem to help.

I do have a backup that is on my sd card. Can I just restore my to my previous version? Would I have to do anything else?

Last but not least......how do I do a hard reset on the X30? Stupid me misplaced the my manual

Thanks

Thanks.

So if I restore from backup would I have to install all the programs that I have?

No, the restore should restore your device back to the way it was when you made the backup. This includes whatever programs you had installed at the time, AS WELL AS any problems you may have had then. So if you made the backup when you were always needing to do soft resets, then you will restore back that problem too.

Gigi, I'm sort of in the same boat as deeznuts. I need a clean start this time to clear out the junk after a hard reset and realize (Sprite Backup has previously spoiled me) I really don't know how to do that. Now, before I follow the prompts to set up a new partnership, how can I be certain to get all my appts, contacts to come over from my laptop so I can keep the data from my last sync? Thanks so much! (I'm sure this is posted somewhere already, but I'm in a panic, even a link to another post would be wonderful)

The backup that I have is about a month ago when I wasn't having any problems with my pda. :approve:

Jen, you actually don't need to do anything special. As long as the info you have on Outlook is current, everything will sync back to your device. Just follow the prompts and configure each setting (e.g., contacts, calendar, etc.) as you like when given the opportunity. If you are really of scared of losing your data, do a PST backup of your Outlook data first (File - Export - PST).

Dullpain, I've been out of touch, is the Rom a06 update for WM2003SE?

I just checked off everything in Active Sync, and waited..... and waited...... But finally, everything installed itself.

@Just Jen
yeah, it's the lastest one from like half a year ago I think. I think they made some improvements to bluetooth and wifi. Only thing I've noticed really is it doesn't hang on closing some certain games and apps and it syncs up with my inbox.
Before It didn't.. well it still doesn't sync up attachments....

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=131500

It's a 31 meg download.
I don't think they are going to give us wm2005. hehe. Hell a bunch of X50 guys don't have it either. :(

Also, that setup file will hard reset for you! make sure you don't turn off anything or disconnect anything while you are doing it though!!!! Caution!

of course back up your stuff because a hard reset will delete everything except the stuff in your voliatle folder.

Check your ROM version in your system Information to see if you may have it already.

Good to know it's that easy. I went into settings -> about -> device ID and changed the name of my pocket pc before syncing up so now I have a new empty folder to sync with and I'll just pull over all the good stuff. Perhaps it would have created a new empty syncing folder even if I hadn't changed my device name, but I wasn't sure. In any case, then I picked calender, contacts, files, etc. -almost everything and it synced up very quickly. Next I'll have some manual work because I had a lot of other programs to set up again, but it's all good!

I see what you mean that it's specifically for the X30. My last revision is called A05 and its from August 2005 http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=137112 I can't find anything newer than that and am wondering if they made an A06 version for me (I don't want to go with WM2005 as I'm happy with this and don't want the headaches I've heard about.).
You're absolutely right in your advice for me to research this now, because this is the perfect time to do it!
