Leaving the backlight on when charging

How harmful would it be to leave the backlight on when the device is in the cradle?
Would it shorten the life of the device tremendously?

Any risk of burn in or image retention? I want to leave my school homework on the screen when it's docked.

Nah... I leave mine on all the time, and my screen still looks purrty! :D

I don't believe LCD's can cause burn-in's.

No burn-in risk. What is the light element in an Axim? If it's LED, then no harm done. I'm not sure about cold-cathode, though. Do they wear faster if they're on?

The bulbs are miniature (cold cathode) fluorescent and generally last a long time. However, set it to dim to reduce the bulb current when plugged in. That'll greatly reduce the blackening of the ends.

LCDs don't burn in. That's one thing I learned. At work here we have some old (really old) moniters with burn in and its hideous. But as for the axim, I would think you'd have problems with other stuff long before you noticed problems with the screen due to leaving it on.

It is just me then? I've had my x51v for only a couple of months and I have just noticed a one pixel thick black line burn in, near the bottom where the Calender/Contacts bar is. It's only visible when I have a full screen app running like TCMPMP or games like Warfare Incorporated running. Can't see it when a non-full screen app is running because it's that black line above the toolbar.

Is there anything I can do to prevent further burn in or to fix it?

kidc I dont have a x51v but I just read that if you to remove burnin (which is actually image retention, because lcds dont burn in) just run a slide show with full color images for a bit.

good luck (you can search if that doesnt make sense)
