Total newbie with an Axim X30 seeks answers to a few questions:

I just purchased a used Axim X30 for $120 last night and am very very impressed.
Fast 600 mhz processor, extra 256 memory stick and wi-fi/bluetooth-- what a deal!

I have a few questions regarding my productivity:

1. I have an intel mac. I installed microsoft activesynch and plan to use it
UNLESS there is a program that lets me use it with my mac OSX address book etc. Does anyone know of a mac programs existence?

2. I use yahoo calendar and address book for my scheduling. Can I synch my axim
with this and or import export existing files? I can't seem to get yahoo intellisync.

3. Where is the battery life indicator? I'd like to see when I have 1 minute
left on the device before its dead.

4. Lastly, How do I get programs into the 'today' view?

If anyone can help, I'm very much appriciative!!

Thanks-

Andy

Welcome to Aximsite!

1. I don't know much about Macs, but I do know that you can use Missing Sync to sync. We also have a Mac forum here you can check out.

2. Try Yahoo Go!. There is a thread on it here.

3. You can go into Settings - System tab - Power to check your battery status. Most people use Today plugins to view battery information right on the Today screen. Here's a thread with some suggestions:

4. You need to install Today plugins.

Don't know much about the MAC OS myself, but for keeping tabs on your battery, setting up iconized groups of programs, watching memory usage, getting the close button to be a real close button, and handy formatting of SD cards, you should try SPB Pocket Plus. You can download a trial version at http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en I find it to be an indispensable plug in on my Axim. I have been using it for so long, that until I read mach1andy's post, I had forgotten that there were other ways of checking battery and memory. I like pocket plus because it is all right there on the today screen, available with just a quick glance.

mach1andy -
Congratulations on your first post :approve:

You got a good deal there ...

"3. Where is the battery life indicator? I'd like to see when I have 1 minute
left on the device before its dead."

With the power at 0% there is still 72hours left - at power off.
So you won't loose anything.

Welcome to the AximSite - I'm sure you'll enjoy - :)

Thanks/ one last question about power adapter..

The Yahoo Go! is great! I also got missingsync for my mac. The beauty of my mac intel is shining nice- everything is up to date! I even purchased yahoo mail plus for the heck of it. I'm glad to be a part of this forum! Thanks again!

OOoo.. one more thing. The guy I bought it from gave me a generic adjustable charger for it set to 4.5 volts. Is this ok or should I figure out something else? Will the usb charge it in the dock or do I need the AC adapter plugged in as well?

Thanks-
Andy

Cool

The only thing I can offer is the batterylife - there is an indicator but it's buried in menus under the "settings" -> "system" -> "power". The Dell will tell you when your battery is low however and when it is critically low (backup battery gone). You can adjust what kind of warnings, etc. it will give you.

For your Today view - go to "settings" -> "Personal" -> "Today" and adjust accordingly

Best of luck with your mac...from what I know, pocket PC's are notoriously nasty towards Macs but I could be wrong.
