Bluetooth woes on X3H
G'day,
I have an Axim X30H, wifi & bluetooth and I am also currently test driving a Sprint EVDO phone (the Samsung A900 with Bluetooth 1.2) and I have seem to have come across a curious problem.
The Axim and A900 phone pair and talk to each other just fine. I have done throughput test and they are normal (in the 310 kbps range) for a Bluetooth 1.x link. Surfing, email, VPN.....all check out nicely.
Then, I ran into a curious problem with streaming music.
I am sure a good many of you have used Shoutcast. I install my trusty copy of gsplayer, fire-up my Bluetooth connection to the A900, then pull up a shoutcast startion with a 128 kbps stream. You would think that a 128 kbps stream can be handled by the Axim over Bluetooth.....
......WRONG!
The Axim simply chokes on a simple 128kbps stream as there are constant reconnects about every 7 seconds. The player buffers lightning fast.....but, astoundingly, a few seconds later again - it just stutters and chokes. Sometimes, the stream is dropped completely.
I have tried this in about a dozen locations throughout my city, all with the same disappointing results for streaming music.
For testing purposes, I went into a circuit city and paired the A900 with an iPAQ HX2495B. This is a slower machine than the Axin X30H as it only has a 520 mhz ARM processor. And guess what? When it came to Shoutcast streaming over EVDO the A900 - there was NO droppage on a 128 kbps stream. Mind you, this test was from inside the store where there is a tons of interference of all sorts.....and yet, the stream sounded great with the iPAQ.
So, it seems that the Bluetooth implementation on the Axim has issues. So what do I do? Downgrade? Make changes? Change the Bluetooth driver? I am at A06, which I think is the latest and "greatest" for this model.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards....
