Problem with trying to Sync directly with Exchange

I have been fighting this problem for a while and after reading and reading multiple articles all over the internet I still have not figured this out.

I am trying to sync my PPC directly with exchange and when I set the server name with the name of my server I can sync no problem as long as I am within the walls of my domain. The problem is when I try to do this from the outside. When I set the server name with the address of my Exchange web mail I get the error "you are unable to sync with your current permissions" Contact your exchange administrator. No matter what I change on my server I cannot get it to work.

Has anyone experienced this before? Please let me know if I need to give any more information.

Thanks!

Sean
