How loud is an Axim X30?

I am considering getting my adult daughter who is directionally challenged a GPS hookup (not bluetooth) for her X30 for use in her car.

There doesn't seem to be an integrated cradle / amplifier other than the Arkon which I have...this would be too much for her (she is also wire challenged!).

Semsons is offering a simple i.trek cradle without an amplifier. So would the speaker in the X30 be loud enough in a Buick Century for her to hear it?

It's certainly loud enough with the standard TomTom voices on my X30.

What? Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying.

Don't fret yourself, go lie down in a quiet place. It's an X50 thing you know. We're talking X30 here. Speaker is louder.

The volume on my X30 is not very loud at all. I'm looking at getting one of those mounts with the speaker.

Prime

edit: I must retract my former statement. I had the box checked in tom tom 6 that adjust the voice with the speed of the car. Once I turned this off my x30 became quite loud :-)

With TomTom 5 default voices, driving a Jeep Cherokee, I find the X30H volume every bit good enough at all driving speeds. It's obviously a peronal thing, adequate for some, and not for others.

If you close the car windows, certainly you'll be able to hear the X30. At loud places you can barely hear anything from it.

The speaker on the X30 is pretty wimpy. I have an x30 hooked up with a Bluetooth GPS and the turn by turns coming over my car stereo via an adapter. I use an i.trek powered mount without built in speaker and it is bomb proof. I chose to go with a BT unit since I use the gps outside of my vehicle for geocaching. A 2GB SD card has plenty of room for all of my maps, so I never have to load more maps for a particular trip.

Check out the Global Sat site - they make a mount with GPS and speaker which connects to the X30 earpiece socket.
