Unrecognized Network Card in Socket 1

Why do i get a message saying that the networking card in socket one is not recognized and i need to enter a name for it?

Does it have to do with my backup battery being dead? Every time i power on the pda i have to wait and press okay to it, close the warning bubble, then click the i know by backup battery is dead thing before i can even start to use it, its totally impractical and i am trying to avoid buying a whole new pda!
