I had originally encrypted my router with "WPA". Worked great! Then, I changed it to "WEM" to accomodate my daughter's Nintendo DS, and had nothing but problems. Her DS worked great, but my axim would connect, but if I tapped on something, the Password screen would pop up, saying that my password was invalid (which it wasn't). After re-entering the password, it would again connect, but it wasn't long before I got the same message.
Perhaps changing your encryption to WPA might be worth a try.
In addition to selecting 'work' as Acorn suggested (and you should make the same selection in both dropdown lists), make sure the proxy page doesn't have anything filled in the proxy field.
You might also try removing your network from the list on the settings page (you'll probably need to turn off the router or go out of it's range before you can remove it) and let it reassociate and enter the security key again.

when you say proxy field do you mean the "my work network" page?
there are tabs under "my work network"
first one general, modem and then proxy settings
are you talking about under "my work network"
proxy settings tab
were it says
this network connects to the internet "checked"
this newtowk use a proxy server to connect to the internet "checked
then there is a box named "proxy server and in it says
webproxye1
under the tab proxy settings then tap advanced and I see this below
server port
http 80
wap 9201
secure wap 9203
socks webproxye1 1080
FYI
I have tried hard resets and soft resets and all that crap also.
just don't get it.
Thanks for the input on my last attempt.
If I can't get it going this week I'm done.
If it doesn't work I will buy a new one from a stare and if I can't get connected I will return it and try something else...:(:(:(
keep the ideas comeing. Other than these problems I really like the dell.

Try clearing those settings as Acorn and Ikehiker suggested. My settings are clear there, and I use WPA at home without any problems.

Yes, this one. Very few home networks are set up to use a proxy and it will interfer with the web browser exactly as you are seeing. Leave the top box (This network connects to the Internet) checked but uncheck the other and clear the Proxy server: box.

Cool thanks will give it a try whe I get home
what about this stuff
under the tab proxy settings then tap advanced and I see this below
server port

wap 9201
secure wap 9203
socks webproxye1 1080
Or will this stuff not matter when I uncheck the other box and clear the proxy server box?
One of the most common problems I have is not getting a proper IP address. I'm always changing from static to dynamic.
If you have just a little antenna at the top of the screen then you don't have an IP address, but if you have a little antenna with the 2 little arrows then you should have got an IP address. It's different for my x3i. On that if there were two solid arrows then it had an ip but if they were moving then it was still trying to recieve an IP.
