At your old job where you worked,did it sync with an exchange server? The error code"DEV_9" is an exchange server error code. Chris De Herra's site explains it here....

I don't know but do all your work stations sync with a server? Is your home PC
set up for syncing with a server? From what I understand and I am no brainiac the error is generated from the PC side of the Active sync not the client side of exchange. My suggestion is to uninstall your AS on home PC and reinstall back and see if that fixes problem.
In regards to getting info to your pocket PC have you tried wireless networking? It has limitations (no PIM syncing) but it will allow you to exchange info from PC to PPC.
