X3 back up battery failure

My X3 will not hold a charge or more than about 1 minute and Dell says the back up battery has most likely failed and I need to send it in for repair.

My questions are:
Does this sounds right?
If so, how much will the repair cost?
What kind of turnaround time?

I haven't used it for quite awhile and it died when it was in my desk and now won't hold any charge no matter what I try. I now own a Blackberry and use that alot but still want to use my X3 for things that Blackberry can't do.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
