What is the biggest SD card that will fit into X30?
Hi all,
as I am thinking of getting a 4 GB SD card am not sure if it will work on 2003 SE so depending on the replies I get I may be getting a 2 GB instead. Thanks, for all the replies. :approve:
Check that it is not SDHC, as they do not work with Axims.
4 GB come as both SDHC and as regular SD cards.
Everything over 4 GB is SDHC. Though I've never seen an SDHC card less than 2 GB, the standard does support it, so it it possible (though unlikely).
Hi Dotan,
nope it is a standard 4 GB SD 150x speed card not SDHC so should work with my Axim X30 but have not seen anything that says it does or doesn't yet.
To comfort you, I have been running for quiet a while a 4GB SD card in my Axim (vanilla 150x)
I have a 624MHz X30 and have been thinking about a new card (got 1GB now, but it's almost full) do you have to reformat the 4GB card to get it to work or does it work right out of the package?
as i write this i am listening to classical music on an X30 High with a 4gb sdhc...no troubles at all..running PPC 2003 A06...this kind of capacity makes this thing a lot more useful as an mp3 player...
Hello ya'll, This is probably a dumb question but here it goes... Santa brought me an X-30 High., I am very happy with the thing to the point that the other PC's are getting jelaous, installed a 1GB SD and the systems acknowledges its existence but I wonder how can it be access from within (the PDA), is it for storage purpose only ? this is my first post and my first PDA as well so don't shoot me... Thank you very much, RAY....

I don't get your question.
The SD Card can be though of as system memory. You can install and run programs off it but if you remove it, and attempt to access it, there will be an error. You can also use it to store information/data and access it off as well.

yes, i'd like to know if the sdhc will work with my x30. seems like alot of places are saying it doesn't; but all the 4 gb cards i see around are sdhc...i need to know & if not sdhc i need to find where i can find reg 4 gb card.
After reading one of the earlier posts here I got a regular SD Transcend 4GB card from Newegg. (Though it wasn't the 150x version mentioned above.) And it's working. The 150x I think is faster but also a lot more expensive. There are a couple other cards listed on NewEgg that appear to be regular SD 4GB, but they're out of stock.
You might want a card reader too, I've had some issues transfering larg files files/a bunch of files using the cradle I've got, but that could be software related or maybe the cable on the cradle's going bad.

so this is NOT an sdhc card? i dont' understand the difference- is sdhc supposed to be faster? if not why the difference?
just hoping someone will clarify if the x30 can handle a 4gb sdhc or not (so i guess a non-sdhc 4gb). it seems all hte local stores only have sdhc 4gb cards here. there was a sale $40 cdn on a sandisk etreme ii 4 gb sdhc with card reader which i thought was a good deal that i let get away becasue i didn't know if the sdhc would work...deals gone now.
anyways, please someone fill in the info for me! sdhc ok or no?
ps will i notice the speed difference 150x vs not if i'm using the card for gps software use?
From what I've read elsewhere the consensus seems to be that SDHC won't work in Axims. I'm pretty sure the Axim line were discontinued before SDHC existed. The non-HC 4GB SD cards are considered non-standard since the standard for SD cards only goes up to 2GB. SDHC starts at 4GB and will presumably go up. (The difference between the two cards involves the way memory addresses are accessed.) Secure Digital card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And incidentally, the 4GB card I got from NewEgg is cheaper then some 2GB SD cards would cost in a retail store. As far as the speed difference, haven't used a 150x card so I don't really know how big the difference is, but the card I've got is good enough to play AVI files in TCPMP. (WMV files that haven't been synced through WMP are another story curiously enough and don't play well in either WMP or TCPMP.)
