memory card locked! cannot write

When I first got my Axim, instead of syncing, I would just put my SD memory cards in a card reader and add/delete ebooks. NOW, I cannot write to my card! I get an error message, "card locked, read only".. The only way I could write to my card was to sync with the USB cord.

However, my sync-plug on the Axim has been damaged. I can use the chord to recharge the battery, but I cannot sync anymore.

How do I force my Axim to change sync-settings and allow me to read/write to the memory card again?

(I tried changing properties .. the XP "your computer" program shows the card is NOT locked/read only)

Have you tried pushing the slide-lock on the SD card itself? Sometimes when you remove your SD card a lot it can accidentally slide into the locked position! Good luck!

Put the card in your reader and check the properties of the files on your card, they may be read only, especially if they are Ebooks that you have downloaded!

I have used other SD cards. Same thing happens.
Today I tried again. I plugged my card reader into USB 2.0/motherboard slot. I was able to delete the files on the card, but then when I tried to add some files, I was denied access! I checked the lock-slide, I wiggled the connections, I rebooted..nothing worked after the initial thrill of accessing ONCE. After the intitial access, I was told "cannot write, card locked, read only" I checked the properties, said "not" read only. The only way I was able to add ebooks (not proprietary), was to use the sync-tool.

It actually sounds to me like a problem with your card reader itself.
Often an older reader will not properly recognise the card, especially if it a larger card.
Try a different card reader if you can, then if that works you can buy a new one.
