When my X30H Finally Dies

Greetings fellow afficionados,

Pondering the usefulness of my X30H the other day, it crossed my mind that one day it would cease to work (component failure or accidental damage) and be uneconomical to repair.

What then, would I get as a replacement?

Have any of you given this a thought, and maybe decided on a replacement?

Mine's an X50 (520) - but, yes, I've thought the same thing. I've gotten so used to the device that I will probably just buy another one - either one exactly like it (if I can find one) or as close as possible. So far I find nothing attractive about these converged boxes with the phone in them so I'll stick with a Pocket PC. Seems that HP and a few other vendors are continuing to make 'em, too ... so even if you can't walk into Best Buy and get a regular PPC anymore they will still be available.

What?!?! My x30 shall never die, even if it has to go the way of Frankenstein's monster!

Seriously though, I'm not sure...while it's nice that HP and some other manufacturers are making non-phone PDAs still, I'm wondering how much I would want to spend again on a device (and its accessories, not to mention for a separate phone). I'm testing out the waters with a relatively old converged device right now, a Siemens SX66 (also known under many other names), which is pretty nice as it also runs WM2003 SE but has some other nice features, such as ability to use BT keyboards through HID profile and a slide out thumb board. It also utilizes WiFi and BT, so if for some reason my x30 dies soon, I have a pretty handy stand-in that will also act as a phone if needed.

The other thing I've had interest in are the internet-centric devices such as Nokia's Internet Tablet or Intel's (soon-to-come?) MIDs... for me, I've heavily used my Axim's wireless and wouldn't mind a larger screen and better resolution. For devices such as the Internet Tablet that run on Linux, I would hope it is relatively easy to add on whatever PIM functions one needs.

x30 Thumbboard driver link (as Belkin graciously doesn't deign to use up space to support it anymore):

Icon3 I have an idea...

Well before that happens buy my x51v with original accessories for only $285 - used very lightly.
