Aximsitewifiicon X30 cannot obtain IP address

I have set up a new WiFi modem/router that replaces a modem and separate WiFi router and am having trouble getting my Axim X30 to work with it although I had no problems getting it to work with the previous WiFi router.

I am able to use my laptop wirelessly with the new equipment without any problems however I am unable to get the X30 to obtain an IP address from the new router - although it detects the network without any trouble. When I went into Network Troubleshooting and went to the Advanced IP screen I noticed that the DHCP server was showing 192.168.0.1, the address of the old wireless router. The new router uses 192.168.1.1 and I assume this is why it cannot obtain an address.

I turned off all WiFi security (MAC address filtering, WPA and SSID hiding) to ensure that they had nothing to do with the problem but that made no difference. I have also reset the X30 but this made no difference and nor did deleting and recreating the wireless profile for my network.

The router is set to used Mixed Mode (B & G) at standard speeds.

Can anyone suggest a possible solution?

Thanks...

Welcome to the site!

You might already know this, but have you checked out the troubleshooting section in the wifi guide:

Hi Gigi,

Thanks for the quick response. I did have a look at the guide. I played around a bit more and remembered someone talking about having problems with the WiFi operating in B+G mode, so I switched mine to B only and success! I switched it back to B+G and cycled the WiFi on the Axim and it connected again. For whatever reason the Axim needed B only until it got an initial successful connection.

Thanks again.

Frewy.
