Aximsiteactivesyncicon USB Troubles

I have an X3 and i downloaded ActiveSync 4.5 and when i plug my charger/usb into the X3 and the other end on the USB port on the front of my computer, it doesn't recognize anything and it won't connect. my computer says that USB is available, but it won't pick it up.

Hi deftones 161, welcome to Aximsite

The X3 is an older device and may benefit from an earlier version of Activesync (you should be able to download these from Microsoft) - 3.8 (I think) would be a good version to try.

You might also try:
  • Ensuring that the pins on the charger and the device are not damaged
  • A different USB port (primary not a hub)
  • Ensuring that you have plenty of memory available on the PC
  • Firewall and AV is allowing bi-directional activity with Activesync
  • Ensuring that you have the most recent BIOS settings on your PC (particularly if you are operating a DELL)

Hope this helps

ok, i turned my firewall off, but it does appear that a few pins on the x3 are missing.... maybe thats my problem. should i buy the USB infrared for my computer and connect that way?

also, on my WLAN Utility, it says that i have a good connection with a network...what does all that mean? i'm new to this thing. my dad bought a new one and gave me this one

Mmmmmm....

Turn your firewall back on!

Pins are unlikely to be missing, more likely they will be bent or appear to be damaged, so I don't think that's the problem.

In order to sync, you'll need to establish a partnership first and I don't think (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that you can do that via IR.

I still think that your best option is to downgrade Activesync to an earlier version. Go to Windows Mobile and look for an earlier version.

If you have a wireless connection, you can use your home network to connect to the Internet, etc. For that you'll need the network key.
