X3 syncing as guest

I dusted off my X3 the other day to pass to my father in law. But I wanted to make sure it was working well. I do need to replace the back up battery, but that is not the issue right now. From posts on the board, I think I can fix that.

I am having syncing issues. I have downloaded the activesync 4.5. The first time I connect, everything works great. It recognizes the X3 and syncs my contact list, email and calendar. But as soon as I remove it from the X3 docking station and put it back on to sync back up. It comes up as "guest". I have tried to soft reboot, that does not work. It still connects as guest. I have reloaded active sync, once I do that and create a new partnership it works. Just for the first time. This also goes the same when I hard reboot the X3. I create a new partnership and it works just for the first time.

I have seen posts around the web, saying to soft reboot and that will fix it. But it does not seem to work form mine. Any suggestions would be great. I would hate to have to toss the X3.
