GroupWise Sync

Using a Dell Axim X3. Unfortunately my company doesn't run Microsoft Outlook but Novell GroupWise and this causes some sync problems, in fact there's no sync at all.

The provided software, ActiveSync, only seems to work with Outlook.

Dell doesn't help out much. They don't even accept the argument that the organisation I work for has 30.000 employees as a reason for supporting Axim-GroupWise syncronization. Makes me wonder if they want to sell any more Axims to us.

Has done some google searches on the problem and found out that Intellisync might be the answer to my prayers. So I've been looking for it but I only end up at Nokia's web-page.

Anyway, does anybody know how to solve the problem.

Nokia must have bought Intellisync - I didn't realize that. Intellisync is about the only way to go (my company also uses Groupwise, but they don't support the use of handheld devices so I've never tested Intellisync to see if it really works). This is the link I found for the software:
Nokia Intellisync: pda sync, palm os software, pim, intellisync, pda software, pocket pc, pocket pc sync, pocket pc software, synchronize, windows ce software, pda, sync, synchronization, pda application, palm sync, sync outlook, palm sync outlook, p

There's also PocketGear to purchase from:
PocketGear : Intellisync Handheld Edition
That's the only software I've heard of that will allow synchronization with Groupwise. Sorry I can't help more, but search the forums, there have been other discussions of Intellisync in the past.

Good luck.

Well, since Dell discontinued the Axim quite a while ago, I'd say that Dell has no reason to entertain this thought. Of course they won't be selling any more Axims to your company.

You need to use Intellisync. I could be wrong about this, but I think buying the software alone is not good enough. I think your company needs to implement some version of it on their end before you'll be able to use it. When the university where I work finally began supporting mobile devices, they sent me a link where I could download Intellisync that was configured for the university's Groupwise system.

Thanks. I'll look into it more later, but not with too much hope for a sollution then.

Dell really makes me grind my teeth. I allways reply to their customer surveys that I would NEVER recomend a friend to buy a Dell computer.

As long as they don't listen to their customers I will continue to do so.

It's been a couple of years since I used Groupwise, but they came out with a plug in that allowed you to sync just by using ActiveSync. I was never able to use it because my agency used an older version of Groupwise that was not supported (they were already planning to switch to Exchange and had stopped doing Groupwise upgrades). You'll need to search the Novell website for the details.

Aximsiteactivesyncicon Solution found!

There is a solution and it works pretty good too. Not perfect though. :o

It shows that Novell has got an application called GroupWise PDA Connect. You can find it here:

NOVELL: Downloads

To run it you will have to have ActiveSync installed too. I am using version 3.7 and it runs rather nicely.

More info is found here:

GroupWise PDA Connect

Thanks to all who have helped me!
