I keep getting "page your are looking for cannot be found" when trying to access web.
But, if I try to hit intranet pages all is OK. Ex. http://mysite or if I try to access my linksys wap54g utility or linksys BEFSR81 router utility. In other words I can hit intranet webs but not the Internet.
When you tried everything in the guide, what happened when you tried connecting with an IP?
It also means you've got both dropdown lists set to 'Work,' right?
(P.S. It's doubtful flight mode has anything to do with your problem. It completely disables wireless so you'd have no access to your intranet or the router.)

Using a home router usually means the router's IP is set up as the DNS. It's probably a problem with your router not sending the domain name request properly so you can either mess around with the router settings (including doing a firmware upgrade) or you can set the DNS on your PPC's to the numbers used by your ISP.
The problem with using the ISP's numbers is you can only do it with a static IP on your Axim which can be a problem if you ever want to connect to a different network.

I guess I will mess with going the route of static IP and DNS. I would have to guess the issue lies with the Axim and the WLAN utility since I have 3 laptops that connect effortlessly through the WAP and 3 wired machines that connect not problem through the router. The axim is the only component that has this odd behavior of giving the page cannot be found error when browsing by domain name. Never before have I seen where you can browse by IP address only.
Overall, it just seems that the Axim is quirky based on an entire site and wifi guide being built to support it.
Have their been improvements to the Axim and utilities since the X30 so that one does not need to jump through so many hoops to get the thing to work?
If there is something better out there? Maybe I just persue another device.
If this is a new device for you, I'd recommend a hard reset. This will bring your Axim back to factory state so you can start from scratch, while following the wifi guide step by step. Just don't forget to backup your data and make sure you have the serials to any software you have installed.
I understand your frustration. Having owned four different Axim models, I've had my share of wifi troubles. But in the end, I conclude that it's not necessarily the Axim itself, it's more the multitude of settings, configurations that you can screw up with in the Dell WLAN utility.
Well... it appears the hard reset did the trick as well as rebooting my dns server. Overall, not pleased with having to do the hard reset. Seems senseless to need to go to this extreme. I would have to give the Dell WLAN utility a thumbs down. Very hokey. But it works now.
Anybody recommend a newer unit with a better utility for getting online with a PDA. It just seems that is should be much easier.

I don't think you mentioned using this yet, but the x30 (at least mid and high) should also include the Odyssey Client, a discrete application for connecting to wi-fi hotspots. Not sure if it would have helped you before though, but always worth giving it a shot if you don't have to spend more money.

Make sure you have the latest "Recommended" wifi updates from the Dell website.
Mine had the same problems as yours before the update (and power-reset the Router), now it connects in a couple of seconds.
The X30 is a brilliant machine that doesn't deserve a one-way trip to the dump. If only it could be upgraded to WM6, (or anything with SDHC support), everything would be perfect!
