Hey KimChee; I am following your steps and when I get to step 4, I get the error message that it is not a valid Url. Can u please check your wording and tell us what we are writing word for word. Are we supposed to include "http://www"?

I hope this doesn't insult your intelligence, but make sure everything is spelled out correctly. I think I got that message 2 or 3 times only to find that I had a dot where a hyphen should have been, etc.

Don't put http, you are helping the emulator find the jad file, like entering the location of a file on your computer C:/opera/opera.exe make sure your opera file is in the J9 folder not in any of the folders inside the J9 folder. Put the file name and dashes in exactly and it should work

Ok, this is as easy as I can make it, you will have to do some work to get it to work, but it's worth it. If you need any additional help just let me know, or post if it works for you.

I've uploaded all the needed files to ftp

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

1 Make a folder on your pocket pc named (without the quotes) "J9" to your Storage Card (to the root, so that you have it as Storage Card/J9) I used total commander to do this.

2 Unzip the J9.rar on your desktop and put everything that you just unzipped into the J9 folder you just created on your pocket pc, along with the two opera jad/jar files.

3 Go into the folder that says bin, launch the emulator.exe file (you might want to make a shortcut to this for the future).

4 Click install it will ask you the url type Storage Card/J9/opera-mini-4.2.13057-advanced-en.jar.

Click the Launch button with opera mini 4.2-4.2 highlighted and you should be ready to try it out.
I am trying to install Opera Mini on my newly received Axim X30 (the high 624Mhz model, with WM2003SE)). Thanks for instructions KimChee but I still have some questions:

1. On the Mediafire site there are two J9 files. For this X30 model which one do I unzip? The J9.jar or the J9 6.1.1 MIDP 2 WM5 VGA-ARM.rar? This user says that the second one works fine on WM2003SE (X30):

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=215154

2. Looking at the Opera Mini website I could not find the Opera Mini 4.2 beta only the 4.2 version released 25/11/08. The latest Generic Advance MIDP 2 version is the 4.2.13216. Is what you have on the Mediafire site the latest (non beta) version? If not, could you please direct me to the right location on the Opera Mini website for the latest version for my specific device? The following link lists all Opera Mini versions:

Opera Mini direct download links (new) - Opera Mini - Opera Community

3. After I install Opera Mini will I still be able to use the native PIE as well and have two sets of bookmarks?

Thanks again.

Use J9 rar, the other one is for wm5+, at any rate, I couldnt get the other one to work on the x30.

The beta file is in the mediafire link also if you want to use that, it was the latest at the time, I havent checked to see if it has been updated. The emulator should work with all future updates.

Yes, they are seperate sets of bookmarks, I myself am running opera, opera mini, and skyfire, with no problems.
