I agree with the person above who said they like having separate devices. I have an X30, an IPod mini, a three year old digital camera, and a basic cell phone. All are still going strong even though most people would consider them outdated.

Been in use since it came out!
I picked up a x30 624 soon after they came out, and I've been using it ever since... in the mean time, I've gone through blackberrys, WinMo phones, a handful of ipods, and still find myself using the axim regularly.
I use it mostly for keeping up to date on my rss feeds, weeding through after hours emails, keeping track of expenses etc.
I wish I could upgrade the OS, and wouldn't mind a better screen, but it works great!

I still use my X30 312MHz 64MB (does this make it the "low" kind?? I think my old job was cheap. They bought these X30 and 50's to interface with a web application that helped schedule construction on tract homes.) Original everything still working. I guess from reading posts here that I should pickup extra batteries to keep going a bit longer. I don't have a super-phone. I'm on a pay per day plan with a old Motorola 120v. I regret a bit that I can't BT connect to the internet through a fancy BT phone when I'm away from home, but sometimes I can connect to open networks at businesses. That sort of war-walking is sort of fun.

So the X30 with a BT 737 is my GPS some of the time, keeps addresses in an easy-to-read phonebook that backs up to my computer, I can use AvantGo to get stuff to read off the web, I take notes with it, and it has reminders. Doing that on a smaller screen never sounded attractive enough to have me buying a super-phone. I never quite got to the point to put the TV/video viewing applications on which I've read about here. But that sounds fun.

She's a Keeper!!
I have had my X30H for years. I don't own a cell phone, so I have used my PDA for everything that a cell phone can do except pictures. It is truly amazing.

I have read several responses from owners who us theirs to watch TV from their home PC. I would love to know how they do that.

Anyone know a good program for using my X30H as a digital picture frame like the ones you buy in the stores?

When I go somewhere my X30H goes with me. PDA phones are interesting as an idea but the one I liked the most (Cingular 3125, the WM5 flip phone) was discontinued. My PDA is my MP3 player, e-book reader, video player, mobile web browser, and even has a copy of the phone numbers that are on my phone. (It just so happens both my non-PDA phone and my Axim sync with Outlook so my phone got appointment data from the calender and the Axim got the address book data from the phone.)

I got myself an extended battery from Osprey-Talon through Amazon and haven't needed to use the original battery since. Since I use the original case, the extended battery's size doesn't cause me any problems. It just makes the Axim harder to get out of the case. (Which would be a good thing if you use the belt clip.)
Amazon.com: 2000mah X1111 Li-Ion Replacement Battery for Dell Axim X3, X3i, X30, X 3, X 30 PDA Models: Electronics

I also got a travel charge/sync kit from Amazon that has a retractable USB sync cable and AC/Car adapters that plug into it. For syncing or on the road charging I use the cable. For charging at home I use the cradle.

I would not recommend the styluses with built-in pen that I got though. The pen caps come off far too easily which can make it hard to get the stylus out of it's holder and the small caps can easily get lost. They're also made of plastic rather then metal. Next stylus I get will be OEM.

I'm also thinking of getting a Think Outside (aka IGo) Stowaway keyboard. Used the Ultra-slim version with my old PDA but would need a bluetooth one for use with the Axim.

I'm still using mine but mostly as a media player (connected to surround sound system) at home and sometimes for GPS when I'm outside.

I still use mine too! I tend to go through phases though. I will use it constantly for about 4 months, then somehow it will fade away. I like using it to watch movies and cartoon series when I'm on the go. It really is a super functional machine and after 4 years it's still running strong. I just can't seem to incorporate it into my life permanently. Anyone else felt this way?

I found it in a desk 3 years ago when I entered the company where I work. They gave it to me. And I still have it. It has been replaced twice (because I dropped them, hihi, great insurance with dell gave me a new one twice!!)
I use as an GPS system, watch movie and PDA fro work. I als let my 5 year ol play around with it using some free math programs.....
oh yes, I use it as a radio while I am in bath (Weeeeeeee).

Try YouTube Pocket YouTube Pocket
It doesn't work on all videos for some unexplained reason but most are OK.

Until 2 weeks ago I was using an x30 as calender, appointments, reminders, etc. with Pocket Informant software. Much more flexable then pocket outlook. I either lost it or missplaced after we got home. (it was my 3rd axim)
After looking around to replace it, I decided to buy a used X51v. Now I need to upload my data from my laptop to the x51v axim. I wish I could find straight forward instructions on uploading from one axim to another. I suppose I should call it the same pocket pc.
I will try that tomorrow.
