Kumoorion,
Try Opera Mobile 8.65.....it's far superior to IE and will load the vast majority of sites just like a PC desktop.
You will mever tap the IE icon again!

Youtube streaming needs Flashplayer mobile 8 installed, but that's free.
To be frank, Live Streaming of Youtube videos is still pretty variable, but go to Mobytube.net or similar, together with TCPMP Player, and they stream just fine. You can get the Flash plug-in from the mobytube site too.....

After looking around to replace it, I decided to buy a used X51v. Now I need to upload my data from my laptop to the x51v axim. I wish I could find straight forward instructions on uploading from one axim to another. I suppose I should call it the same pocket pc.
I will try that tomorrow.
Hi all. Long time since I've posted on Aximsite. In the past 7 years I've owned an 3 IPAQ's (3600, 3700 & 3715), an X5, X30 (high), X50 and now have an X51v and an X30 (312Mhz/32Mb). I my line of work (I travel a lot and work on military ships), I'm pretty hard on my toys. I use the X30 as my MP3 player, and as a backup address book and calendar (it's always in my truck). I use the X51v for everything else. The X51v is great, but has a few squirrelly issues that have not yet been resolved. Although I must say that the L11 (WM6.1) ROM I have on my X51v is leaps and bounds above everything else.

Anyway, willyneu, you can cross data from one type of PPC to another, but not programs. The OS's (operating systems) are so different, you would probably brick it. So don't try reloading a backup from your X30 to your new X51v. There are some really good utilities for this task, but they are not cheap. The easiest (and cheapest) ways are to copy (or backup) data only to an SD card and then copy it on the new one that way, or sync with the desktop system and then cross over that way (using Outlook for address book and calendars).

Hope this helps.

Rick B.

I still use mine. Love it! Wherever I go I have my Axim X30, GPS unit, cell phone and camera. BTW I haven't updated anything in awhile. Whats new? My TCPMP program is Version 0.71. Everything else is probably that old. Do we have Winamp yet?

Still using my X30
I am still using my Dell Axim X30. I use it a lot for GPS. I bought the Dell add-on GPS system years ago and it is great. I love the unit. I hope the X30 lasts forever. I just used it this weekend in a hotel that had wireless WiFi and I had not dragged my laptop with me. I easily got online and checked email. Great unit. If it had not been for the explosion in smartphones, Blackberry, etc. this would still be state-of-the-art.

been using Axim X30 for 4 years now. Started with a mid, gave it to a friend about a year ago and it's still going strong, I upgraded to a high secondhand on ebay, still running as good as new. Wifi and bt are excellent. No reason to upgrade. The only thing that tempts me is the HP 200 Enterprise, but only for its 4" screen.
I have a couple of other friends with Axim X 30s, one even with an X3, that are still going strong! Hope this helps!

I have an eee pc for web surfing/skype/etc. while traveling.

I was afraid that I bricked it yesterday (slipped on the stairs with it in my purse; not a bruise on me, but the Axim wouldn't turn on) - thankfully the push-power-and-reset tip on the forums here revived it. I was browsing for a potential replacement and had settled on the HP iPAQ 114 - the closest device to the X3 (feature-wise) I could find!
I recently took my eeepc on a trip and left Axim X30 at home. I regretted it. Although the eeepc is fantabulous, I missed my Axim. Instant on and instant off, and pocket is pocket is pocket....

if you are trying to use a hi-cap sd it will do that. Shows that something is inserted but you won't find it.
Have to use the older standard SD. I have been using a 4g one for over a year now with no prob.

Still using mine
Still using mine & have no intentions of replacing it. It does tonnes of stuff & even when the x50 came out..I liked how the x30 was smaller/thinner & lighter.

bought a gps receiver a few months ago & now it's a gps device.

i like having the option of just taking a small cell phone with me if i need..not stuck with integrated pda/phone.

I even purchased a 2nd x30 for my family to use for gps..keeping in mind that it will serve me as a backup should mine die.

My charge port is now loose though..which is why im' on the forums. hoping to find a cheap way to fix.

I presently own 6 (six) X30's 3 312's and 3 624's as well as 4 spares for parts
(main boards, screens, digitizers) Yeah, I kinda HOARD them because I use them like my p c. Full Wifi on all of them as well as some custom programs I came up with to emulate a regular pc at work for downloads. I currently have a 16gb SDHC card partitioned into 3.75gbs each and they work just fine.
I carry 1 OEM hi cap battery and a Iogear GMP1001W6 external slim battery that I can use to charge fully in less than 30 mins. I am the full definition of a portable gearhead! form factor of less than 5.25 inches is my preference.
I go through airport security and I am asked more about what I am carrying than how so many small devices can fit so neatly into a small bag.
Presently use X30H for movies, Music, photos, email, flash video, excel docs,
spreadsheets, games, and e book. The only NEW device I would even consider over my X30H is the HTC x7510 Advantage(DROOL!!!!!)
Dell dropped the ball when they let the 51V & vx replace the X30.
Stability is so important in a handheld. All questions are appreciated.

I agree with all you say about the Axim X30, but how on earth (or somewhere else) did you get it to recognise a high cap 16g sd?

Hi, Guys, I am so glad I've found the site. I have had my x30 hi since 04, and been using it on and off. Right now I am using it just to read and browse some internet before going to sleep. I would love to learn how to use this little machine again to do more things. Okay now I really need some help. How do I install programs, such as the opera browser, or the youtube pocket? I tried today to download directly on to x30, but couldn't start the program at all. Is there a place I can find out information how to use the device? Sorry being kind dumb with this.

I am still using my X30H daily with dell GPS navigation, engineering software and PDA functions. I purchased it February 2005 with a second battery to minimize the downtime due to the battery.
