Weird "mosquito" sound near antenna?

I can't find any similar posts with this problem:

Bought an old x3 a couple weeks ago. Just playing around with it trying out new freeware and all, but has anyone ever heard a high-pitched squeal originating from near the antenna? The kind our elders might not be able to hear?

I noticed it last night. It's only there when unit is on. Wifi activation makes no difference. I tried soft and hard resets without success. It might have always been there, but I'd be surprised if I really had never noticed it.

I was checking out the Myst demo, then removed it and noticed the sound. (I really don't think the demo is the problem--still might get the game.)
The unit works fine, but there are also times the screen won't respond to touch and I have to reset, reset, reset, etc. until magically it works again. Any overload issues I'm new to?

Is there an option more cleansing than a hard reset? You know, I mean really start everything from scratch? Would that be worth it?

Should I simply ignore it? Really, it can't be heard from more than a couple inches away. Thanks!

I wonder if it might be related to the display back-light. Try turning it off.

Hard reset is the ultimate reset

Let alone that you perform a ROM flash upgrade :o

Ahh, what the heck. It works fine otherwise. It's old, it's quirky. Part of the charm I guess.

Antenna on/off no change. Display on/off no change. Power off, well, it's off and quiet. Not much use that way, though.
Probably something to do with new ROM (from 00 to 02).
