you all are so patient, my sincere thanks. The bluetooth was not on, so that's not it. The settings do say My Work Network. I'm not sure where you mean about the powersave settings, however.

This setting is on Auto. Anything else anyone can think of, or shall I just give up?

Did you change it? It should be 'Disabled.'

I don't have a Disabled option. When I go to Start>Settings>System (tab)>Power (icon)>Processor (tab) I have three options (radio buttons): Maximum Performance; PowerSave; and Auto. Below Auto it says Speeed changes according to system status.

Sorry, I didn't notice where jogga sent you. That's not the Powersave I was referring too. It is on the Main page of the WLAN utility (as I said in my earlier post) which opens when you tap the wireless icon at the bottom of the Today screen. Disable it there.

OK I am tapping on the icon with the bars which turn green when I have a connection (this is the only icon I see on the Today screen) and I'm getting the screen which shows what I am connecting to. At the bottom there are links for Tools and Advanced. The tools menu has something which says power management. That is off. Is this what you're referring to? Otherwise, where do I find the Main Page of WLAN?

Sorry, my bad. I forgot you have an X30 (my description was for the X50 & X51).

In the WLAN, tap Tools, then Power Management.

I'll take a look at this setting. however, it was working again this morning! I think I'll just give it (and you) a rest now and if I don't have access to email / web browsing while on vacation, it won't be a disaster (after all it's called a "vacation" for a reason). I'll keep trying and if I still have problems I'll post again next week. Thanks again for your patience.
