Axim X3 connection to the internet
Hello. I have a Dell Axim x3 400 mhz running WM 3 i bought a wifi card sdwsdb-000 for it. I download its driver. So far I can see my network and others but can't get it connect and browse the web. I use a Netgear WGR614V9. I have a laptop working fine with that router which, encryted using wpa. The axim setup asking for network key(wep) but it doesn't recognize the wpa key. I changed the wpa to wep with network key and i did accept it(can see the green signal bars). But still when using Internet Explorer it says can't connect and also ask to"save it to my document" It says i'm connected! I need help please.Thanks.

note: i prefer using wpa. Can axim x3 use that too somehow?

Hi jacobk, welcome to Mobilitysite

The best way to get up and running with WiFi is to read ikehiker's comprehensive (and excellent) guide here.

You may find that you just need to change the channel on the router to get connected.

I've got the same model, and when looking around the guide, got confused about just which one I had and what I should be trying to do.

Any help would be great.

The X3 does not have WiFi (only the X3i did), so first you need to buy an sdio WiFi card with drivers for WM03.

Once the drivers are installed (usually through an activesync connection), insert the card (and turn it on of the software has that option - most accessory cards turn on automatically when inserted).

You should get a notification that a network was found. Chose 'Work' as the type of network. Enter the WEP key when asked (AFAIK, WPA is not an option with WM03).

If you get an 'unable to connect' error, try going into the network settings - Start, Settings, Connections (tab), Connections, Set up my Proxy server. On the Proxy server tab, check the top box (This network connects to the Internet) but leave everything else on this page blank. On the General tab, the name should be "My Work Network." OK and then select the Advanced (tab), Select Networks and select "My Work Network" from both of the pull down lists. That should allow you to use work for both networking and the Internet.

I'll have to check out the thing. Someone gave it to me, with out the box just the items. I'm thinking of just trying to sell it or trade it anyway.

The problem I've been having, is that it keeps telling me the Key isn't right, when I log into my Internet.
