How to repair my charge port
My pda fell while attached to a cable & the cable yanked on the charge port pulling out the "metal casing" that the cable "clicks" into.

I managed to open the axim & see that the charge connectors were all intact & was able to wrap the metal casing back around the connectors but i can see that the metal casing used to be attached the board (i think).

I plopped it back in the cradle & it charges & syncs ok..but i'm not sure if i use a cable that "clicks" into the port..if it'll just pull the metal casing with the slightest movement.

I know i could send the x30 away for a new sync connector for around $50-60...but i figure since it charges/syncs fine & looks fine from the outside...is there a way to affix it properly to the board?

Can it be soldered on? Is that how it was originally attached? i don't know anything about soldering...is this an easy DIY thing? Or, is it easy enough to ask the local computer repair shop to fix??

thanks.

I've never looked inside the X30 but it sounds like you could use a small amount of two pack epoxy to hold it in place.

Applied carefully it shouldn't cause any problems.

Just a thought.
