Activesync fails - Axim 'disconnected'

A problem new to me, and I'm afraid I may have to completely wipe and rebuild my Axim X30. Tonight when I put the Axim in the cradle to recharge and activesync, it seemed to connect like usual and then after a few second, it went to 'disconnected'. I reseated the Axim 4 times, each time the same thing happened. I disconnected the cradle and used my travel cable, and tried to activesync, and got the seame results. Then I tried my bluetooth connection and also got the same results.

Have any of you had this problem and what resolves it?

The last time I had to wipe the Axim and rebuild the backup was corrupt, so I had to everything by hand. I'm kinda getting tired of rebuilding it.

There are many and varied reasons for Active Sync problems.

Have you looked through some of the solutions in the Active Sync Forum?

Have you,
Soft reset your Ax
Rebooted your computer
Installed any new software lately (some software conflicts with AS)
Checked that your firewall isn't blocking it. (try turning it off)
installed any updates to windows ( can change settings, including the Firewall)
installed any new anti virus software (same as above)
Uninstalled Active Sync and reinstalled it (rebooting the PC in between)
Deleted the partnership and re-established it (Rebooting the PC again.)
Tried a different USB port (main not Hub)
Cleaned the connectors on the Ax and the Cradle (a pencil eraser works quite well)
Held your mouth the right way (critical)

These are a few of the things that can cause problems.
It's somewhere to start.

momcat, do you have a backup program? The best solution here is probably, make a backup/ or use a recent backup after a herd reset, to restore the axim. and then try to sync, the reset sort of works like a defrag on the ax and tidies things up!

I had several backups, but they all show as corrupted now.

Additionally, it appears that my SD card went belly up in the middle. I put in a known good one last night, and installed a couple of apps, but today, that one had to be reformatted, cause it went unreadable.

2 different card readers, 2 different laptops, both XP SP3, both clean of nasties. Starting to wonder where the problem really is, cause it's starting to get very weird.
