Exclamation X30 Wm5???

Is there any worldly way I could change OS'. I've been learning a bit on this topic and know that WM5 has QVGA support. So naturally I'm assuming that my X30 can handle WM5. Can anyone help? I've subscribed to a number of forums and see that alot of people with crappy old PDA's are making the switch on OS. Tell me I can!

sorry, the X30 can't run or even be hacked to run wm5 or wm6.
This week I have been mostly listening to..... Short cummings audio

Nobody has developed a wm5 rom for the x30. With its similarity to the x51 (mid not V), both have QVGA and the x30 has a better processor. But yet wm5 runs just fine on the x51 mid so im sure it could run on the x30, its just nobody ever made a rom for it.

They are making wm6 for the x50 mid someday, which is even more similar to the x30, b/c both have 2003se on them from factory. I wonder if, once the wm6 rom comes out, somebody could port it to the x30.

All in all, i think the x30 could run wm5 or maybe wm6, its just there isnt anybody making a rom.

I guess that's why I can't find a ROM anywhere yet. I'm fairly pleased with the Axim 30 but am mildly disappointed with the storage capacity and non-SDHC support.

I got a Christmas wish. Someone develop a mod for SDHC and WM5 support!!!

I had a friend who had some sort of emulator running on his X5, but he had a dad in the MS mobile devices sector. Otherwise, your not going to be able to find one.

Go over to Xda-developers and do some homework. Ya might just find out how to do it. The first step would be to find out if you can flash rom images from SD card or CF card.
X50(mid) with Windows Mobile 5 A03 rom

DECENT WM6/WM6.1 (voip?) rom coming soon to Axim X50(mid) and X50(low) (thanks to help from Maglite)

They have that driver made for wm5 for sdhc cards, but i tried it on my 2003se device and it doesnt work. In fact, it makes all sd cards unreadable until its uninstalled.

Everybody appears to be moving away from wm2003se, so the chances of a sdhc driver being made are slim.

Yeah. I think it's a shame because I really like the X30 in the short time I've had it. I am looking into EBay right now for an X51v. At least that has more goodies for it

Oh and a beautiful VGA!

Thanks for all your good advice guys

I wanted a shell from SBH also but later found it wasn't compatible with the X30. No mods or anything for this. I guess if all you want to do is ultra-light computing this would be perfect for you.

Inexpensive 4GB cards aren't enough for you?

Newegg.com - 4GB, Secure Digital (SD), Flash Memory, Digital Camera & Accessories, Computer Hardware

The regular (aka slowest) version is only $5.99 each. And speed probably won't matter 'cause the hardware in the Axim isn't terribly fast.

Will the 4gb Transcend even work with my X30??? I know there have been issues with cards over 2gb. I may change my mind for now if this is true. All the X51v's on EBay are a little too much for my purse strings right now. I'm still going to get an X51v but may wait until I get a good price.

The VGA and CF of up to 16gb with SDHC support are my reasons.

I bought a 4gb Transcend from newegg.com and it works great with my x30.

If you are anywhere near a microcenter their inhouse (generic) cards are dirt cheap, I used to buy their 2 gb cards all the time for 5 bucks, and I got a couple 8 gb sdhc for like 15 bucks.
