creating shortcuts

This is a little 101 stuff but this is my first PDA and I'm not sure about the proper method.

How do I create a shortcut for a program on my today screen?

I have SPB pocket plus and it will show a list of programs that are installed in it's Today Plug-in edit. I've just suddenly noticed that there are two shortcuts that are replaced by two light colored squares that did nothing when tapped. I removed them and want to replace them with the proper missing icon. This happened after I moved some programs to my SD card to free up system memory.

I've gone into the file explorer and looked for the icon that launches the programs and noticed that they are huge. For example my Skype which is installed on my SD has a launching icon that is 3.87 mb. That's an awfully large chunk of data just to launch a program. I hope there is a way to create a shortcut that isn't that huge. If not then I might as well have installed the program in my X30's internal memory.

I use Total Commander for this but the built in File Explorer also has the option: Hold the stylus on the program name and select 'Copy;' to to the location where you want the shortcut and select Menu, Edit, 'Paste shortcut' (you can also just hold the stylus in a blank space and a popup menu gives you the 'Paste shortcut' option)
