wm5 and 6 apps on axim x30

After looking over what I could do with my old Axim x30, and googling a TON, I came across this piece of software: alpaxo.com/redgear/

Its called redgear, and its a compatibility layer for pocket pc's. I thought that maybe if this would run on an Axim x30, the x30 might see higher compatibility rates with programs that werent designed for it.

I haven't bought the program yet, because I don't feel like spending money on something that wont work. I'm going to try and get in contact with the creator and work out if it would be usable on the axim (because I dont think that the axim uses hpc2000, but i think it does use windows ce 4.2?). If it was, of if he might be willing to modify it a bit to make it compatible, we all might get some new-found use out of our x30's!

Redgear is for hpc's, to help them to use newer wm programs designed for ppcs...It's designed to run on hpc 2000 and ce. The biggest breakthrough imho was using opera 8.65 on the older hpcs [(ie jornada 728) which you can already run natively on wm 2003se]. Development has stopped and I believe after December technical support will come to an end.
I dont think the author Kirk will do anything else for redgear..Funny you mention redgear I still own an nec mobilepro 900c and am active on an hpc community..one of the main contributors to that hpc site has coincidentally helped Lenny a bit with his axim x51v roms..

Hah! Small world, i guess. I came across it because I'm active in a Gizmondo community, which brought me to find this software.
