Nice comparison. You might want to consider differentiating the IRDA between consumer level IRDA and regular IRDA. The difference is that the consumer level IRDA can reach upwards of 20 feet. While the normal IRDA can only reach 3-4 feet and is mostly for syncing. The consumer IRDA can be as an alternative to a remote control. The Dell Axim x3 has a consumer level IRDA and the X5 does not. Not sure about the others.
Actually, the location of the Irda is also a plus - but it depends on what you will be using it for. If you laptop has irda on the right, a left side irda on the pda might be easy to sync up.
I prefer the irda on top so to use it as a remote, and to beam things to other pdas without having to turn the pda.

Originally posted by diesel nice job and all, but i think most people would not compare the x3i to the 2210 or 1900 ipaqs, but will compare it to the new 4150
the x3i compares to the ipaq 2215
the 4155 is in a whole other class with the asus a716 and toshiba e805
Axim X5 > Com > CF/IO..........(not really positive that falls under COM Port) ............My buddy, Ron Rico says it does, but I don't trust him for some reason.
