Battery Life

Battery life seems to be a major concern for me. The x5 seems to have better battery life. But still it seems to only get 5-6 hours. Do ou find that this is enough? The x3 seems to be worse...maybe 3-4 hours or so. What do you all think of this?

there is a test on the x3 battery on the front page....it seems to be in line with what you're saying.

As for my x5 and the battery, some days are better than others and it ranges from 5-8 hours.

Hmm

Well i've found that i can run through a charge in just a couple of hours now. I overclock and play emus on my x3 so i really burn it fast. Yeah it bothers me, but for the boost in performance its worth it.

I ordered the extended bat, but its still "in production" so i cant comment on that.

The battery life of the X5 is generally much better than most any comparable PPC's. The X3 however seems to be a bit below average which is probably a product of the faster performance. I'd assume the graphics chip(it does have one doesn't it?) in addition to the Wifi play a big role on this.

There's always a tradeoff between performance / features and power consumption.

I'm curious as to this as well, although with my X5 I keep it in the charging station about 3-4 times a day, so it doens't concern me THAT much. :)

We had a thread yesterday that discussed the power consumption of two different X5s running MP3s. The test set-up and configurations were slightly different, but one used a 1440 mAh battery and the other a 3800 mAh one. I think the thread was titled "Awesome Battery Life" of something like that. Check it out.
