Windows CE 4.2( WM2004)?

Story just released about Microsofts new Digital Music Device will be based on the Windows CE 4.2 software. They are holding off on released until middle of 2004. Wonder if this is when we can expect WM2004?

reabsco,

I hope there is not going to be another upgrade. I had a hard enough time getting WM2003 from Dell. Plus, most upgrades from Microsoft equate to me having to buy a new system. Why can't they just make a version that is flawless so that I don't have to keep dishing out cash...

Ok, so they want to make money... A better question is can they make money without me having to update my hardware...

Thanks for the info though.

:) ....making me laugh. I completely and utterly agree with you. I upgraded my X5 to WM2003 and now can not connect to my WIFI connection @ work. I am so freaking fustrated with it, I have actually posted a message to sell my X5 and then purchase an X3. I can live w/the upgrade as long as they work the same, if not better. Again with Microsoft (NT 3.5, Win ME, ) this is not the case.

Nope....

WindowsCE 4.20 is the version used on current PPCs. It is WM2003.

wm2003 is running great for me. Wifi and all. I'd upgrade to wm2004, if they fix the network share issue.

Isn't there a whole issue about WM2003 SE (Second Edition) out there??? If they released it not too long ago (I'm not sure, that's what I've understood from some posts, I'm new at the PPC thing) I don't think they'll be planning on WM2004.

Anyway... I'm probably way off!!! :)
