X3i inbox?
Hi,
Having fun setting up my X3i, but wondering if anyone knows if you can set up the default inbox to send/receive mail from a pop account? When I set up my pop account, I get two accounts - one my activesync inbox and a second for my pop mail. I'd like just one - my activesync inbox that can also send/receive mail when I'm connected to the internet over a wifi network. Possible?
thanks,
Jeff

I'm pretty sure you can only get email into the ActiveSync folder on the Axim is through an ActiveSync connection. To download pop mail directly to the Axim, you need the service setup and that account "open." You can, of course, sync your Axim via wireless which would allow you to just use the ActiveSync account. You can even do it remotely if you set up a VPN on your home computer and leave it on/connected whenever you want to get email.
Bmwilliams210, I'm not sure what you mean by it being buggy (at least in relation to this question). This isn't a bug - just the way the program was written. I imagine evntually, the program will be more like Outlook on the PC and will allow you to download email from all the accounts at once and into a single folder.

Pocket outlook supports pop mail, I did it all the time with my X5. It does not appear to be working on the X3i. I agree with the original poster, the X3i outlook appears not to work. Anyone else?

you can connect to a POP account with the X3i. there is no bug, you just have to do it correctly. the way to do it is only by connecting with the wifi through a hotspot or a wireless router. if you are trying to send email on your X3i and are connected with the wifi to your PC, you will have to have outlook setup on your PC and use the activsync account on the X3i.

Doesnt seem to work for me. I am going through the wireless router to my pop account. I have had an issue like this before where my DNS would not get resolved on my pop3 server. I need to go in and just put in an ip and see what happens.

Maybe I misunderstood, but my impression for the original post was that he wasn't having problems getting his pop3 mail, he just wanted all his email to go into the ActiveSync account and AFAIK, it isn't possible to set up pocket outlook that way.

Ike's right - no problem sending/receiving pop3 mail. And I'm using a wireless ap, not through the PC. Just an annoyance that I can't deliver/send mail from the activesync account. Seems like a design flaw to me - why shouldn't you be able to use the account just like it is set up on the PC? Just a retorical question I guess!

jeffv,
Yes, you would think that wouldn't take much effort to write the program to use a single folder for all the accounts (I actually have 3 different pop3 accounts I like to check and I need to select each one individually to connect). Of course, I'm kind of difficult to please - on the PC, I want to have the email from different accounts go into their own folder and had to write rules to have them do it there.
volwrath,
Did you try entering the mail server IPs? I notice on my WM03 PDA, it takes a long time to make a connection to my mail servers (the exact opposite of IE which is much faster on the new OS) but with patience, I eventually do get the mail to download.

Ike, actually I wasn't giving it enough time. If I wait 5 mins, eventually the headers will come in. In PPC2002, it was instantaneous. I also found a thread that identifies the problem.

Think we will get a patch for this? Hehe
