clicking from speaker when volume off?
on my new x3 the speaker makes a clicking sound when the volume is set to ofF
It does this when clicking start, new and when the transcriber computes.
Does your X3 do this?
Nole,the clicking is not loud.

Thats happened on every handheld Ive ever owned... including X5. Its not clicking all the time for me. But like, If I have the volume all the way down, and I perform a function that would normally make a sound (system alart) it'll "click" I think its because the speaker isn't truly silented.

Also experienced this on PPCs of all brands. My X5 does it all the time, as well as the X3i. Also heard it on some older iPaqs, Jornadas, and Casiopeias (spelling?) that I have used.

I had it happen to me once. Did a soft reset and it hasn't happened since. X5 rules!

In my case, soft reseting doesn't do anything.
The buzzing in the earphones is also prevelant.

Update:
I just realized it makes that same clicking noise no matter if the volume is on or not.
That is, I hear the click when sounds are playing as well.
Can anyone else experiment?

I don't think you are understanding.
When I have the speaker on mute, anything that would normally play a sound results in some form of clicking sound within the speaker.
What I notice now is that when the volume is on, I hear the sound that shoudl be played, ALONG WITH, the clicking sound heard when the unit is muted. This also happens when using earphones.
Please test this out on your X3i, to see if I should give my friendly neighbourhood Dell retailer a call.
